The States capital offers many options to the tourists for entertainment. From historical centers to recreational places ideal for kids and family, also museums and unmatchable beaches: La Paz alternatives promise diversity and fun for everybody.

Snake Sanctuary

For those ones who share fascination for snakes, crocodiles, spiders and scorpions, there is a place in La Paz that you will love. Funded by Abraham Blank in October 16th of 2000 with a location in Brecha California between Nueva Reforma and Guaycura streets in the city of La Paz, gathering a great reptile collection, endemic ones and from other parts and regions of the world, you will be able to watch the most venomous and dangerous animals in the world at this sanctuary. All animals are captivated and specially isolated on glass cages for the visitor’s safety. The main purpose of this park is the fact to condone the importance of preserving unique species of the region that keep the eco system’s balance. You will find more than 40 endemic species (only place in the earth where they exist) the south Californian reptiles, without a doubt a privileged place for the kids.

Hobbies Xtremos Las Palmas

This Park was made exclusively for the fun of all the family and for the youngest ones as well, counts with two not very deep swimming pools with slider, an indoor carpeted kid’s area, swingers, and more play ground, also a mini golf course of 18 holes for you to demonstrate you skills on this sport. For those ones who enjoy from the adrenaline rush, this fun place has a wall of 10 meters tall with 6 different ways to try your strength so the young ones be able to challenge the gravity, you can also jump on the air on a trampoline with a harness and a string which allows jump up from 8 to 10 meters doing stunts in the air, another excellent choice is the challenge between friends on a paint ball or Gotcha popular game.

Nuestra Señora del Pilar de La Paz Airapi

The place were this mission was built was chosen by two of the most influent priests in the mission process of the XVII century, Juan de Ugarte and Jaime Bravo; its foundation was in 1720, precisely on November the 3rd, the name which was originally funded under was “Nuestra Señora del Pilar”.

As all the missions in the peninsula, the establishment cost a lot of work, not only on construction wise talking, but by the labor of convincing the natives, targeted to turn them into the Catholicism and get closer to them through the evangelic process. The moral and religious concepts that were preached went against some Indian traditions, specially avoiding the monogamy, due to this type of situations the church was abandoned in many occasions and currently there is nothing left from it, the only piece that is still preserved is the statue of “Our Lady of Pilar” and some other remains.

The Cathedral of La Paz is the church that eventually substituted the original mission, this construction began in1861 under the supervision of the bishop Juan Francisco Escalanta y Moreno located in the heart of La Paz, is a nice structure which outstands in the city view.

Communitarian Whale Museum

The Gray Whale arrival is one of the most beautiful and amazing natural spectacles that can be seen in the state, therefore in the year of 1996 the Whale Museum Prof. Cesar Piñeda Chacon was funded. Located in the cultural unit of Jesus Castro Agundez; with an exceptional architecture in a dome shape of 12 meters long and 6 meters tall, which is dedicated to this beautiful mammal, and also to the knowledge and preservation through exhibits and the teachings on keeping the environment.

This is a very promising project since seeks on being the first museum in Baja California to keep conscience on the care for our eco system.

Tele-communications Regional Museum Tomas Guzman Cantu

In 1991 is created in La Paz city the Tele communications Regional Museum, located in Guillermo Prieto No. 220 Downtown, where radio and television history are carried as well as electronic devices along with portraits and biographies of men who were remarkable on the communication history in our state.

Regional Museum of Anthropology and History

Located on 5 de Mayo street corner with Ignacio Altamirano, this museum is part of the Cultural Agora Unit. This museum was funded originally in 1954 in an antique house of downtown, but in 1981 the state government along with the INAH considered more suitable its current location, which previously was the El Zobarzo prison. There are for exhibition 1,200 pieces of the geological evolution of the peninsula, archaeological, paleontology and anthropology, as well as the important General History of Mexico. The beautiful beaches of La Paz consist without a doubt in one of the main attractions, from waves ideal for surfing or wind surfing to the quiet beaches to swim and refresh, among the most popular ones are: El Tecolote, Balandra, El Tesoro, Pichiligue, Caimancito, Coromuel, La Concha, El Coyote, Ensenada de Muertos, Las Cruces, Punta Arena, Costa Baja, La Ventana and El Sargento.

You can practice all kinds of activities, from just laying in a beach bed or resting, to receiving a message, getting a tan, enjoy from the view or even take a nap on the waves lullaby, or either to practice all kinds of activities and sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, riding jet skies or a parachute pulled by a boat, swim or simply submerge in the quiet water to ease the summer heat.
