Mexicali, Baja California
Mexicali is the capital of the state and houses the heart of the state's administration.
Like Tijuana, the capital is a border city with Calexico, California. There is constant border traffic and daily commerce interchange here.
The University Museum displays the state's history in an excellent presentation. Another interesting place to visit is the Cucapah Museum, an indigenous community of the region.
The art galleries showcase the avant garde work of the local artists. One such gallery is located in the Universidad Autónoma of Baja California.
