Loreto, Baja California Sur
The municipality of Loreto is another place on the peninsula that has had a tourist boom. Large hotel projects and the support of FONATUR have created excellent growth in this port. Loreto is considered by many to be the capital of the Californias because the first Jesuit mission was built here. The San Javier mission is an historical jewel built in the Sierra de la Giganta. The islands of Coronado, Carmen, Danzantes and Catlana are ideal for water sports, diving, ecotourism or simply enjoying the calm beaches.
