The state of Colima is known for the beauty of its beaches and for the fishing tournaments held off of its coast. It is considered to be the world capital of marlin. Some of the events throughout the year are:

The Coffee Fair, Minatitlán

January 8-16

The Coffee Fair is held in Minatitlán with exhibits for crafts, commerce, industry, agriculture and cattle ranching. The major coffee companies in the state gather to show their products and enjoy the best coffee from Colima. The fair also offers charrería and bullfighting events that lend to the air of celebration.

Festival in Honor of the Virgin of Candelaria, Tecomán

This festival is a religious and musical event with floats preceded by dance groups, music concerts and fireworks. Along with the festival is the Tecomán Fair with cattle ranching exhibits as well as recreational and cultural events and contests.

National Fishing Tournament, Sport Fishing Club, Manzanillo

First Week of February

This fishing tournament has taken place off the coasts of Colima since 1954. Manzanillo has an abundance of marlin and sailfish and is the perfect place for sport fishing. This tournament is organized by the Sport Fishing Club of Manzanillo.

Weekend closest to April 30th

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 are invited to this tournament. Diverse prizes are awarded by the sponsors, public and private organizations, in this event dedicated to the celebration of children.

May Festivals, Manzanillo

May 1-10

The May Festivals are the most recognized festivals in Colima. The celebration includes a commercial, agriculture, cattle ranching, industrial and tourist fair. The program includes regatta and swim races as well as product exhibits. The general public can also register for a fishing tournament. Prizes from sponsors are awarded to the winners.

All Saints Fair

November

This is the main state fair and has been around since 1826. Since 1934 the fair has included regional agriculture, cattle ranching, commercial, art and industrial exhibits. The fair has its own grounds in the Niños Héroes Park, better known as "El Rodeo". It is located at kilometer 4 of the Colima - La Estancia highway. It has space for rides, restaurants, various halls, an open-air theater and a rooster arena. Cultural and recreational events are organized daily.

International Fishing Tournament, Sport Fishing Club, Manzanillo

Last Week of October

This is another important tournament that has been going on since 1954 because of the abundance of sailfish and marlin off the coast of Colima. Participants must register in advance with the Club de Pesca A.C. First through third prizes are awarded for sailfish, marlin and dorado.
