Taxco, Guerrero
Taxco is the municipal head of Taxco de Alarcón and is nationally known for its production of silver and products made from this beautiful mineral. This city gained importance as a result of its mining activities which concentrated mainly on silver extraction. Today, silver mining has diminished to the point of disappearance, but Taxco is still known for its silverwork. In many parts of the world, it is still considered to have the best silver in the country.
The historical architecture of Taxco is also very interesting. Some important sites to visit include the XV century temple of San Bernardino, the Santa Veracruz temple, the Casa Borda, the Casa Humboldt, the Guillermo Spratling Museum, the Figueroa House, the San Francisco Temple, and the old home of San Juan Bautista.
