Na´ Lu´Um Hotel, in Tecoh, Yucatan, Mexico, is a hotel that opened recently in August 2009, for that reason, all facilities are new and in perfect condition. It is a magical place located in the Mayan world, 40 km from the City of Merida, surrounded by natural beauties and important archaeological centers.

Our guests will have a pleasant and peaceful stay, immerse in a place where nature owns everything, away from the modern life’s routine.

Our goal is to offer our guests a place where they can relax and enjoy the best services in the region. We also offer great benefits to our guests, sue to the fact that we are a smoke free establishment. We have Temazcal service, a pre Hispanic steam bath used by our ancestors to purify their body, mind and spirit.

Among other services, we also offer a restaurant, swimming pool, hammock area, bathrooms and locker rooms, inside parking lot, multipurpose room (yoga, wedding receptions, conferences, etc.), big gardens, walking track, massage area and near drug store. Our restaurant, with an ambience full of harmony with the surroundings and with nature, is ideal for the enjoyment of excellent contemporary Yucatecan dishes.

We consider our cuisine Contemporary Yucatecan, in that we try to blend regional flavors in a fusion with diverse ingredients, which gives our dishes a very special touch.

We can mention a few of our delicious dishes such as X’Catik soup, X’Tabentun prawns, Mayan beef filet, and our own Na’Lu’um custard.

We also have typical Yucatecan cuisine, delicious and of the best quality.

Special Cabin 1 Queen Bed We feature Special Cabins, with a queen size bed and room for 2 adults. Specially decorated, this cabin has a hammock, which makes you stay more pleasant. It is spacious and features wood furniture and windows in an ancient style and an excellent quality. A terrace and, additionally, the location is the best since it is located in front of the swimming pool, with a panoramic view of the place.

Standard Cabin 2 Double Beds The Standard is a one storey cabin; it features 2 double rooms and room for 2 adults and 2 extra people. Fresh and comfortable cabin, decorated with wood furnishing and windows in an ancient style and excellent quality. A comfortable distribution to have a pleasant stay. It features a terrace where you can see the gardens.

Activity’s Information

Near our hotel, there are many places of great tourism or archaeological interest, such as:

"Tecoh" a town of approx. 14,500 inhabitants, has one of the prettiest churches in the state. Its construction (convent and church) is on a hill, which apparently was a Mayan pyramid. The town’s festivals are: Feb. 2, in honor of the Virgin of the Candlemas; from May 3-5 in honor of Santa Cruz, and August 6-14 in honor of the Virgin of Assumption, to whom this church is dedicated. There are also various cenotes (more than 100 in this municipality), such as San Eduardo, 210 meters long X 24 meters deep, and other beautiful cenotes and caves such as Zab Nah and Tza Itza.

Hacienda “Sotuta De Peón“ is 12 km. away, one of the few haciendas which still shows how henequen was produced at the beginning of the last century.
The archaeological zone of “Mayapan” is 15 km. away, considered the last Mayan capital (1200 to 1450 AD) which had a population of approx. 12,000 inhabitants and a size of four square km. and approx. 4000 structures, which are being discovered and rebuilt up to the present day. This is one of the few walled cities of the Mayan world, a majestic and beautiful archaeological site. Its principal monuments are: The Castle of Kukulcán, the palace of the Stuccos, the Chaac god masks, the frescos on the sides of some of the pyramids (which retain their original colors), the Snail or observatory (round building) and much more.

The “Cuzamá” cenotes are 24 km. away. In order to reach them, you have to board a “Truck” ” (narrow platform on a track pulled by a horse); there are three beautiful cenotes: Chelentun which has cement stairs and handrails for easy access; and the other two Chansinic-Che and Bolonchoojo have access by a ladder made from “truck” rails.

Te city of Mérida is 37 km. away, capital of the state of Yucatán. Some things to see are the Museum of Anthropology and History, housed in the beautiful Palacio Cantón; former home of Francisco de Montejo “El Mozo” founder of the city in 1542; San Ildefonso Cathedral (the oldest in America, dating to 1598); Museum of the Yucatecan Song; Peón Contreras Theater, Monument to Patriotism; Paseo de Montejo, and many more sights to see. Every day, in one park or plaza or another, you will find gatherings or serenades with regional music and dance.

“Dzibilchaltún” archaeological site is 51 km. away. This is a lovely site, with a cenote for swimming. Its main pyramid is the House of the Seven Dolls; during the spring and fall equinoxes, the rising sun appears directly through its main entrance, creating a spectacle of light and shadow. There is also an excellent museum on the site.

The Gulf of Mexico is 67 km. away. In the “Port of Progreso”, you can see the long pier, originally 2.2 km in length. Now it extends to Cervera Island (1990), and is 6.5 km. in length, allowing ships with deep draughts to dock, including cruise ships. The port has a pleasant boardwalk which has access to the lovely beaches with fine, white sand. The sea is a beautiful blue, calm, with long stretches of beach, allowing safe swimming. You can also arrange a fishing trip with a local fisherman if desired.

The city of “Izamal” (Dew of the Sky) is 72 km. away, where you can find the second largest atrium in the Catholic world (the first is St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome). There are also important vestiges of Mayan ruins (Kinich Kakmo, Kabul, Itzamatul and El Conejo), and delicious regional food is available too. At 8:30 pm there is a Mayan show which tells the story of the area..

On the Tekit-Mama road (towns which form part of the Convent Route), 92 km. away, you will find the archaeological site of “Uxmal”, one of the most important of the Mayan world, located on the Puuc Route (the architectural style of various Mayan cities). Its main pyramids are the Fortune-Teller’s Castle, 35 meters high (in the summer the main entry faces the sunset); the Monks’ Quadrangle, Ball Court, and House of the Turtles. There is a spectacular Light and Sound Show at night.

“Celestun “ is 110 km. away, a marvelous salt water river where huge colonies of pink flamingos reside. You can take boat tours where you can see them up close, also viewing the fossilized mangroves (Tampeten), the fresh water sinkholes (the most important is called Ojo Baldiosera, where you can swim) as well as the Island of the Birds. Celestún also has lovely white sand beaches, filled with coconut palms.

“Chichen Itza “ is 129 km. away; the most well known archaeological zone of the Mayan world, and classified as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
In addition, there is an infinite number of beautiful and interesting places to see such as the archaeological sites on the Puuc Route, churches and convents on the Convent Route, haciendas, cenotes, caves (such as Lol Tun), among others, at distances of no more than 120 km. And within an hour and a half drive, you can enjoy the flora and fauna of Yucatán, and the great diversity of its bird population.

About Merida

All roads in Yucatán lead to Mérida, the state capital. Colonial par excellence, this city is the point of departure of important archeological excursions to the towns and cities that might still hide important secrets of the advanced civilizations that populated the peninsula long before the Spanish conquest.

Mérida is known as the "Ciudad Blanca" or "White City". It is located where just 500 years ago the old Mayan city of T'ho or Ichcaansihó (face of the infinite) existed.

The symmetry of the streets, plazas and the perfect layout like the old Spanish-style cities rapidly made Mérida one of the classic colonial cities of the 16th century.

To visit the center of the city, one must pass the ancient buildings that make up the historical center. To one side of the Plaza Grande, surrounded by leafy laurels, is the San Ildefonso Cathedral. This cathedral was built during the second half of the 16th century and is the oldest on the American continent. Its architecture is very austere with two imposing towers. Construction of the cathedral took more than four decades and was built, in addition to quarry stone, with stones from the fallen Mayan temples. The largest representation of Christ can be admired inside of this great building.

The Montejo House is another amazing construction in Mérida and is considered a jewel of silver artistry. The Government Palace is neo-classical style and currently houses several Fernando Castro Pacheco murals. They are considered to be the most important artwork in the state and helped to shape the life and history of the Mayan town from the era of the conquest to the Guerra de Castas (War of the Castes).
