The founder owner of VM hotels, Don Pedro Melo Cortes, was born in Tulancingo, Hidalgo in 1910. His wife is Mrs. Juana Ortega Martinez. Don Pedro managed to install a butcher’s shop “La Mejor” (The Best), which due to its success indeed was the best one in Tulancingo, nonetheless, after few years later he quit the butcher business and since 1952 became devoted to the hotel business. He started the VM hotel in honor to his father: Don Vidal Melo. Don Pedro has obtained throughout all his life honorific mentions, medals, awards and recognitions to his labor and himself, possessing the Gold Medal that the red cross grants to distinguished Mexican citizens.
